Configuring Scrivener for NaNoWriMo Series
A process for organizing a Scrivener project so you focus on writing.
Whether you are preparing for NaNoWriMo or just want to get your Scrivener file setup for a new manuscript, this series will walk you through some of the basics.
The wonderful thing about any tool is the different ways it can be used; these tutorials were made to introduce the different aspect of Scrivener in relation to setup so you can develop your own process. Keep what you like, toss what doesn’t suit your style and keep writing.
#1: Introduction to Scrivener
In this video series, we’re going to set up a Scrivener file so once it’s November 1 we can focus on writing. In this video we’re going to introduce the Scrivener project file as well as bring in any previously collected research.
#2: Developing Characters
Welcome to the second video in our Configuring Scrivener for NaNoWriMo Series. In this video we’ll go over the character folder, making character sketches/templates, and discuss ideas on how to define what aspects and content to put into your character template.
#3 Setting, Locations, & Places
You’ve located the third video in our Configuring Scrivener for NaNoWriMo Series: Setting, Locations, & Places. We’ll go over making templates, adding settings, locations, and places to your project, as well as ideas on how to populate your settings sketch/template.
#4 Layout & Corkboards
We’re laying out the options in our fourth video of the Configuring Scrivener for NaNoWriMo Series. We’ll look at the different layouts and views of the binder’s ‘Manuscript’ folder and how you can use them to make a plot outline, beat sheet, or a blank document ready for you to accept your NaNoWriMo or any new masterpiece.
#5 Tips & Tricks
This last video in our Configuring Scrivener for NaNoWriMo Series, and one of my favorites: tips & tricks that make writing easier and more efficient. We’ll go over adding word counts (targets,) snapshots, split screen, full screen mode, bookmarks, adding webpages to your research, adding pictures, changing icons, labels, status, and project statistics.
